Uganda, Tanzania Sign Accord to Develop Hydropower Project

Uganda and Tanzania signed an accord to develop the 16-megawatt Kikagati-Murongo hydropower project, the East African Community said.
In terms of the agreement, two plants will be built on the Kagera River on the East African nations’ border, the Arusha, Tanzania-based organization said in an e-mailed statement today. The project will be implemented by an independent power produceer and provide electricity to Kikagati in Uganda and Murongo in Tanzania, it said.
